Lamar Jackson has been the center of attention this NFL offseason. While the star quarterback’s future is still up in the air, his return in a Baltimore Ravens uniform seems highly unlikely. Jackson is currently free to sign with any team, after being placed on the Ravens’ non-exclusive franchise tag. Since then, surprisingly, most teams have pulled out of the Lamar Jackson trade, leaving the unanimous MVP to dry. In a situation where the QB is in the need of any good opportunity, it seems a former Patriots player doesn’t want Action Jackson to join the team.
Reports of Jackson requesting a trade from the Ravens have been doing the rounds, and the New England Patriots have repeatedly come up as a probable landing spot. While many expect Jackson to strive under the tutelage of Bill Belichick, a former Patriot warned Jackson about the matter.

Asante Samuel wants to protect Jackson
Lamar Jackson is eagerly looking for a way out of Baltimore, and the Patriots might be one of his only options. However, former Super Bowl champion and 4x Pro Bowler Asante Samuel warned Jackson about teaming up with Bill Belichick.
Lamar Jackson, my brother trust me you don’t want to play for Belichick

“Lamar Jackson, my brother trust me you don’t want to play for Belichick,” tweeted Samuel, amidst all the reports tying up Lamar Jackson and the New England Patriots.
Bill Belichick has established himself as one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, but Samuel disagrees. According to Samuel, Tom Brady was the sole driving force behind the championship runs that the New England Patriots made.
During an interview with Betway Insider, Samuel choose to give Brady all the credit, “We are not giving Belichick credit. He didn’t have it before Tom [Brady], he ain’t got it after Tom. If he wants the credit, he needs to go do it after Tom.”

Samuel also recalled a rather unpleasant anecdote about Bill Belichick, accusing him of running down his players.
“It was not a good experience. People think we won, and that was great, but when we lost, the players would be depressed and down. I remember one day vividly. We won the game, but he cussed everybody out after the game. Everybody’s walking around with their head down, and I’m like, “What the hell is wrong with you? Pick your head up. Don’t let this man take you down. We just won.” Do You know how hard it is to win games in the NFL? I never fell for none of that stuff,” he added.

Asante Samuel’s account makes it seem like Lamar Jackson might just be settling for the lesser of two evils if he does indeed decide to go with the New England Patriots.
The Patriots are out
Despite all the recent speculations, the New England Patriots might be out of the running for Lamar Jackson. According to the Boston Sports Journal’s Greg Bedard, the Patriots acquiring Lamar Jackson might just remain a pipedream. A similar report by The Athletic’s Jeff Howe also cited a league source who insisted New England landing Jackson is “just not going to happen.”

Lamar Jackon demanding an exorbitant amount of guaranteed money could be one of the potential reasons behind teams pulling out of negotiations. Jackson further damaged his reputation by sitting out the entire season and looks like history might just repeat itself.
