The Pittsburgh Steelers won the coveted Super Bowl title two times with their now-retired QB Ben Roethlisberger. It was a glorious period for the franchise, which had a strong team and a superb coaching staff. An era that they will never forget. The accolades even led to their former HC being a part of the Hall of Fame class of 2020 after a 15-year stint leading the team on the field. Even Roethlisberger spent the entirety of his 18-season career under the Hall of Fame HC, with both of them becoming favorites for the Steelers fanbase.
But back then, before being inducted into the HOF, the coach did not find it convincing enough that he did enough to earn his position as a coaching legend. He recently opened up about the events that preceded his induction into the Hall of Fame.

Steelers fans cannot forget the run they had with their former HC Bill Cowher and QB Ben Roethlisberger on the team. During a recent episode of Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger, the former HC talked about the events that occurred before he got the news of being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Bill Cowher was not sure about being inducted as a HOF because he did not receive any information prior. He did not receive any calls regarding the matter and then headed on for a game on Saturday night. When former CEO of the Pro Football Hall of Fame David Baker approached him, Hower stated that “everything’s just flashing in my head.” He went on to talk about how at first he couldn’t comprehend why Baker was there, as he asked him to leave. Then, coming back to reality, he realized why he was there, as he saw his wife and daughter behind Baker as well. He said, “I’m going ‘oh my god, you knew this morning when I said.’ She goes no they called like an hour before because they knew that no one can keep a secret.”

That is when Cowher realized that he is being inducted into the HOF. And after a glorious spell, it was long coming for the former HC.
A glorious era for the Steelers under Cowher and Ben Roethlisberger
Bill Cowher replaced Chuck Noll as the head coach back in 1992 for the Steelers. Cowher led the Steelers to the postseason 10 times and won eight division titles during his 15 years as the HC. Furthermore, after winning Super Bowl XXX and XL, fans consider him one of the best coaches in the NFL with an incredible regular season record of 140-90-1. He finished his career as a coach as one of the six coaches in NFL history, with around seven divisional titles. Another accolade that he holds is joining Paul Brown as the only two coaches to lead their teams to the playoffs consecutively in their first six years.
