While playing against the Eagles, the 23-year-old New York Jets quarterback suffered a bone injury as well as a meniscus tear. This occurred against the Philadelphia Eagles during the preseason. On August 14th, the young quarterback from Utah underwent arthroscopic surgery as a result of this accident. He was scheduled to return within 2 to 4 weeks of the surgery.
However, head coach Saleh does not believe in rushing the quarterback and prefers to wait until Week 4 for his full recovery. On Monday, Saleh said, “Everyone heals differently“.
What happened to the ‘possible’ comeback of Zach Wilson as Saleh mentioned in the press conference?
Robert Saleh addressed the media about Wilson’s possible return for the season opener. Zach worked out with the team on Monday, and the team was about to wait until the next day to see how his right knee felt after practice. Saleh also stated unequivocally that they are prepared to provide Zach with the necessary healing time.

If Zach does not recover fully, Joe Flacco will start the season for the Jets. “Like I said, we’ll see what happens tomorrow and all that stuff. But everyone has a different — I almost feel like some of the guidelines that are put on are guidelines. But everyone responds differently.” Saleh stated.
According to the recent official announcement of the New York Jets, Zach will not be back before Week 4 for the faceoff with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wilson will require more time to reach peak fitness.
