Jimmy Garoppolo is back in the kingdom because of the twisted cruelty of fate. But his friend at Tampa is more than happy to see him back starting games for the San Francisco 49ers. The Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady mentioned that things work out crazy in the NFL, and to predict them prematurely is always a foolish decision.

This Sunday, the Niners sealed their first season victory of 2022 against the Seahawks. And the major credit goes to Jimmy Garoppolo, who stepped up to accomplish the job Trey Lance left in the first quarter.

Lance was named as the starting quarterback over Garoppolo this offseason. And the veteran was tagged as a trade bait until the team decided to keep him as a backup to find a new home for the passer. But fate landed him the same job he has been doing for the past 5 seasons with the Niners.

In the first quarter against the Seahawks, Lance twisted his ankle and incurred a season-ending injury. This made Garoppolo wear his helmet and take charge of the Offensive unit.

His dominance and popularity over the fans were unrealistic. The Levi’s stadium cheered and welcomed their former QB once again to the field. And this time, not as a backup playing for a single game but hopefully concluding an entire season. Not to mention, he wrapped up with a 27-7 victory against the Seahawks. He also connected for a touchdown with tight end Ross Dwelley.

“I think the touchdown to [Ross] Dwelley, obviously, gave me some confidence, like, All right, now we’re rolling. We’re playing football now,” Garoppolo told Albert Brett of SI. Similarly, the Buccaneers quarterback expressed his views in the recent episode of ‘Let’s Go! Podcast’ where he revealed to have followed Garoppolo in the entire offseason about his rehab and position inside the franchise.

Tom Brady says he is happy for Garoppolo

Jimmy Garoppolo played a major part of his career with the New England Patriots. The franchise selected him in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft and played as a backup to Tom Brady till 2017.

While speaking about the recent developments inside the Niners locker room, Brady mentioned that he and Garoppolo were best friends off the field and is happy for his former teammate. He said when one door closes, another opens, and that’s how it works in the NFL.

“Jimmy’s out there playing with Trey getting injured. And as tough as it is for Trey to get injured, Jimmy steps in there and does a great job,” Brady said.

“So I think everyone is probably pretty happy with how things turned out from Jimmy’s standpoint. Obviously not with Trey and the injury. But things have a crazy way of working out,” Brady added to his explanation. Unless Garoppolo gets injured, he can lock his position as the starting QB for the entire 2022 season.
