Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is about to join an extremely elite list of NFL players and Super Bowl champions. However, it’s not going to be on the field or at an award show. The younger Kelce brother is set to host some Saturday Night Live action this 4th of March.

Kelce will become the third NFL athlete ever to grace the hosting duties for the long-running NBC show in 15 years. Well, winning his second Super Bowl ring in four years certainly guaranteed Travis Kelce some special treatment.

Travis had a historic season in this 2022-23 campaign. The TE surpassed the legendary Rob Gronkowski in postseason touchdown receptions (16) and only lags Jerry Rice’s 22 on that list. Kelce stayed open whenever Patrick Mahomes needed him and didn’t let the NFL world feel Tyreek Hill’s absence this season.

And after Eli Manning in 2012, the iconic comedy sketch Improv show is calling back a star from the gridiron. Travis Kelce was hyped about his appearance when he came for a chat with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “Growing up, I was a huge [Chris] Farley, [Will] Ferrell, Fallon kind of guy growing up. Yeah, I used to watch ‘Saturday Night Live’ with my mother and it’s an absolute honor and a privilege to be hosting ‘SNL’ on March 4th,” he told Fallon.

The only other two NFL athletes to share the hosting honors in SNL besides Travis and Eli are 7x Super Bowl champion Tom Brady (2005) and 2x champion Peyton Manning (2007).

And Peyton really set the bar high for Kelce with his hilarious improvised sketches.

Travis and the Beastie Boys went hand-in-hand this year during the NFL playoffs. After becoming heavy underdogs because of Mahomes’ injury, the Chiefs overcame the mighty Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship, and the no. 1-seeded NFC side Philadelphia Eagles to become Lombardi winners. “You gotta fight for your right to party,” Kelce echoed the Beastie Boys’ lyrics.

Fallon made an encore request. Jimmy asked Kelce to do a karaoke version of his ‘right to party’ number. And the crowd erupted as the tight end took the stage with the Roots.

However, Travis can calm his nerves as he will be devoid of musical duties on 4th March. Kelsea Ballerini will be taking care of that. And Travis can just focus on outdoing Peyton’s 2007 hosting.
