Last month after the Christmas day game, Erin Andrews did an interview with Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers had just broken Brett Favre’s record for career passing touchdowns. Andrews wanted to be one of the first people to interview him. After the interview ended, the quarterback and the journalists hugged each other. They have done several interviews together, and they know each other a bit.
The hug after the interview got a lot of backlash from people all over the world. People were mad at the duo for not following COVID protocols. Erin Andrews finally spoke up about the unnecessary buzz around the hug.

Erin Andrews on hugging Aaron Rodgers after the interview
The Fox Sports sideline reporter sat down with Charissa Thompson for her podcast. Erin Andrews had already heard about all the backlash for hugging Aaron Rodgers. To reply to everyone Andrews said, “I pretty much have hugged Rodgers since I started covering the NFL. He’s been a good friend of mine for the last 15 years,” she adds, “It was so funny because the people close to me in my life like my family or other quarterbacks I know or other players are like ‘Why is this a big deal?’ Being a good friend of Rodgers, Andrews just thinks the entire thing is funny. It’s not even that big of a deal to other players and her.
The journalist then went on to talk about how Pat McAfee joked about the situation. He said, “You two gotta stop hugging.” Erin also said that Aaron Rodgers mentioned that he hugs other players, friends, opponents, and guys. To him, Erin Andrews is like one of the boys.

The Fox reporter said that she recently met Odell Beckham Jr. He ran towards Andrews and complimented her smile. The two hugged. She also gave a hug to Von Miller because he was on ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ As a journalist, Andrews spends 18 Weeks with these players.

She and other reporters like her are with them through their highs and lows. Andrews is grateful for all the friends she has made throughout her career. Erin was just pumped that Aaron Rodgers broke the record, and she just wanted to congratulate her friend. The hug gained a lot of attention, but Andrews doesn’t want to take it for what it’s not.
