The Patriots endured their seventh loss of the season when they fell to a 30-24 defeat against the struggling Raiders. And more than the shock loss, a botched-up play made waves during the game.

A costly play for the Patriots
The Patriots took on the Raiders in a Week 15 matchup of this season’s strugglers. But even though the Patriots are not their former self, the loss they suffered was still a shock. Equally shocking was a lateral play that caused a pick 6 and cost the franchise the game.
The score was tied 24-a-piece and the Patriots ran a play from their own 45-yard line towards the end of regulation time. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson took the ball forward but then threw it backwards towards wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. With no way forward, Mayers went backwards and threw a Hail Mary towards the midfield. But the Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones caught the throw and took it for a game-winning touchdown.

Brady spoke about the play on his ‘Let’s Go’ podcast but refused to roast the Patriots for it.
“That was crazy, and I was part of the one in Miami when we lost at Miami on the Miami Miracle. It was just so improbable for that to happen. I saw that highlight as I was driving home from the game yesterday. It’s just sports, man. You never know. You never know. Anything can happen,” Brady said.
Brady doesn’t shy away from trash talking anyone. But his previous association with Bill Belichick’s Patriots might have held him back.

The fans don’t have to look very far back to see a trash talking Tom Brady. Just before the Week 15 clash with the Cincinnati Bengals, he called his opposing defense a “fairly tough” one instead of giving a bigger praise for one of the best defenses of the season.
“Great team. Great, young quarterback. Fairly tough defense. Good skill players. They do a lot of things well. We’re going to have to put everything we’ve got into it,” Brady said on the previous episode of the ‘Let’s Go’ podcast.

Maybe he didn’t say anything this time because that previous jibe blew up on his face. The Bengals ran 34-23 winners as the playoff road got bumpier for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This time, Brady is a bit cautious.
