Deion is also a mentor for his side’s players. Recently while speaking with the NBA and NFL presenter Tyler Brooks, Coach Prime highlighted a serious issue for the current NCAA players going forward. Given how these young men are in the nascent stages of their careers, Coach Prime being a visionary, shared his perspectives on their mindsets. It was a revelation when Sanders highlighted statistics related to college football players.

Coach Prime Time is a passionate individual. He treats his players like his sons and expects them to be their best in practice and in matches. Sanders knows that he has a responsibility that extends beyond his role as coach. He needs to put his players on the right track whether their football career takes off or not. Throwing light on the same, the former 2X SB winner shared his insights. “Because I’m wise enough to know that 85% of these young men ain’t going pro. So I get to make sure they get the education in their consistent values of life.”

He backed his consensus based on this important factor. “I want them to walk out of hand with a 6 figure job and I’m trying to have a connectivity with several companies that they can.” Coach Prime sounded serious as he highlighted the importance of making education a top priority.

He also gave an example of how he focused on the importance of studies along with juggling football duties. He proudly remarked. “We had the highest GPA in the history of Colorado Football. In history this spring with all that going on. And right there now I clapped with my feet!”  He also shared his own example of how he motivated himself through childhood and kept a promise to his mother.

Little Deion wanted to make money for his mom

Deion Sanders- the talented cornerback came from humble beginnings. The rise of a player who excelled in both baseball and went on to win 2 SBs made a promise to his mother when he was seven. During the conversation with Tyler Brooks, the exchange turned to the popular moniker Prime Time. Speaking about the same, Deion came up with an emotional and motivational anecdote from his childhood.

He said “I told my mother, when I was seven, I was gonna make a lot of money. She never had to work. And I saw way back then, defensive backs, they one slotted to do that. So I had to create something that I know would and I created this character in my dormitory room in Florida State.” It shows a story of how gumption, a strong sense of self-belief, and a resolute mindset can help in achieving great things in life!

A purist of the game, Coach Prime is leaving a coaching template for current and future coaches to follow. He has completely changed the mechanics of the CU Buffs team. Hopefully, he will stay for at least one more with the club and transform the lives of college students.
