Netflix’s much-hyped series Quarterback hit the screens last week on July 12. The buzz and excitement surrounding the series did not die a bit as it went on to rack up amazing numbers. As per Netflix, the series had 3,300,000 views and 21,400,000 hours watched in just one week from  July 10-16. The streaming network later announced the hot new release had snagged no.1 spot in the U.S. since its drop.

A close look at the on and off-field lives of three quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes, who boasts the Super Bowl of the season, hogged the spotlight. Mahomes’ episodes garnered special mention by many, including the 85 Million dollar ESPN host Pat McAfee. McAfee who was pumped for the show and assumed it would be ‘next favorite football content’ before the release was nothing but impressed with the Netflix gem.

The ESPN host was absolutely blown away by the series and was all praises. He took to his Twitter to gush about the series that managed to hook the 2 million people. He dropped an ‘I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! GIF to express his excitement as he addedThis Quarterback series is awesome. Feels like it’s the middle of October and NFL football is in full swing while watching it Patrick Mahomes is an absolute beauty/DAWG… Kirk Cousins is hilarious… & Marcus Mariota’s a good dude. Absolute home run by @OmahaProd & @NFLFilms”.

McAfee was already hyped before the series hit the screens  as he raved on his Podcast, the day before the release.” I think the world who aren’t NFL fans are going to great peek at what the NFL is and those of us that are NFL fans are going to get a chance to learn a lot about the world that is for an NFL quarterback”.

The ESPN host also caught a whiff of a renewal of the series during his podcast which was later confirmed by one of the brains behind the Netflix series, who joined him on the show.

The ‘Quarterback’ series to get a renewal?

Peyton Manning, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and executive producer of the Netflix venture dropped the news on his appearance at the Pat McAfee Podcast the Quarterback series will be renewed for a second season.

“Season two has been greenlit by Netflix”,  confirmed Manning, a news which was later relayed by John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, and Joe Lucia of Awful Announcing.

 “I’d love to document three different types of quarterbacks again at three different points of their careers,” Manning added. As the series continues to add up the views,  the announcement of a new season adds the perfect icing on the cake.
