TB12 had the option to choose baseball during his college days. However, there was another sport he cherished, which was as intense as Gridiron. But TB12 revealed why he did not go for it.

The Let’s Go! Podcast had Tom Brady and Jim Gray talk about a legion of topics. Gray jumped ships from football to combat sports. He asked Brady whom he would throw some hands at while donning a pair of boxing gloves. TB12 has a nemesis he wants to get his hands on, but he responded on why he did not go for boxing despite having a keen interest.

 

Tom Brady mentioned, “There’s a reason boxing wasn’t my sport. You know, my dad was a hell of a boxer… We loved boxing, and he taught me about boxing. I was young, so I’ve always been a fan, and the physical element of boxing. I love the discipline it takes.”

“You know, this sport wasn’t for me. I love watching other people knock other people out because that’s the sport. It’s pretty tough to choose someone, but I think that was to choose one person. I think it would really be Brutus Buckeye. The Ohio State mascot. He knows what he did.”

Further in the Podcast, Brady acknowledged boxer Canelo Álvarez and his potential. At the time of the podcast, Álvarez went against Caleb Plant for a super middleweight unification bout, where the Mexican boxer stood tall.

Tom Brady and Canelo Álvarez have similar traits in one sector

Despite being the oldest starting QB, Tom Brady’s competitive mindset has kept him in the game. But he has set himself in the entrepreneurial region. TB12 stands ninth in Forbes’ highest-paid athletes of 2022. But Canelo Álvarez aced him out in the standings by $7 Million. However, both stars have set themselves an empire out of their game.

As per Forbes, Tom Brady has an NFT Platform, a production company, a clothing line, and a health and fitness brand. Apart from endorsement deals, he also has a $375 million contract with FOX Sports for over ten years. Canelo Álvarez also made his empire with eight companies. He owns the Canelo Brand, which runs stores, promotions, and shows. He also has SSA Capitals, Upper, CA, and is in the real estate business.

It is safe to say that both of them have built a new world out of their competitive careers and could take up their ventures full-time if they opt to retire.
