Los Angeles Rams defensive ends Aaron Donald has created history with his paycheck. Donald had helped the Rams to win the Super Bowl title this year, and now he has been offered a restructured deal that makes him the highest-paid defensive player. In the restructured deal, Aaron Donald will get an average salary of $31.6 million per season through 2024. Donald had agreed to a new deal that was worth $95 million. If we compare it to his previous contract, it is almost $40 million more.

Out of the massive total amount, $65 million is guaranteed and will be paid in 2022 and 2023. The guarantee amount is more than the $63 million that was offered to the Rams QB Matt Stafford. The new deal has made him the 12th highest-paid player in the NFL. Also, it is a historic moment as no other defensive player has made over $30 million in average salary. Thus, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback ever.

Donald had three-year remaining in the previous deal that offered him an average salary of $22.5 million. Before the restructured deal, Donald was the 6-highest paid among the defensive players. A lot has changed after the Rams won the Super Bowl this year.

Aaron Donald is one of the best defensive tackles in the league and has been named Defensive Player Of The Year three times. Donald, T.J. Watt, and Lawrence Taylor are the only three players to have won that award three times in NFL history.

Donald has an NFL record to his name for having the most sacks in a season by any defensive tackle. Also, he made the most sacks for the Los Angeles Rams in franchise history.
