The 2020 season was an utter disappointment for the AFC East franchise New York Jets. They finished at the bottom of their division yet again with a 2-14 record.

Former Head Coach Adam Gase also ended up losing his job as a result of a disappointing season. First-choice quarterback Sam Darnold also found himself at the receiving end of a lot of flak after some inconsistent displays.

With the likes of Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, or Mac Jones, available for selection this summer, the future of Darnold in The Big Apple remains shrouded in mystery.

Analyst claims the Jets should move on from quarterback Sam Darnold

Popular American analyst Nick Wright was at it again on the latest segment of First Things First. The FOX Sports host offered his two cents on the situation involving both, New York Jets and Sam Darnold.

He said, “Your only options are drafting quarterback and trade Darnold or draft a quarterback can keep Darnold….I 100% agree with Brandon that I think if you are going to bring in the number two pick of the draft to be the future face of your franchise, you can’t have sitting there backing him up the guy who was the number three pick of the draft a couple of years ago.

“You have to pretend the Sam Darnold era never happened. If that means trading him for 30 cents on the dollar you do it. But to me, the Jets have one option and one option only – draft a quarterback get what you can from Darnold, and turn the page,” Wright said on the show.

Since making his debut in 2018, Darnold has thrown for 8,097 yards with 45 passing TDs against 39 interceptions. In 38 NFL starts, the former USC player has a 13-25-0 record. He further has 417 rushing yards and 5 rushing TDs.
