Three of the most prominent of those have been Tommy Maddox, Charlie Batch, and Byron Leftwich. Big Ben mentioned them and explained how they’ve been good support systems as a quarterback for him. He spoke about how all the backups were able to set aside their egos and help out when a game needed to be won. All in all, he praised the kind of support they’ve lent him.
While Big Ben has been a self-sufficient QB with his style of play, his support system in his teammates has been incredible. It only remains to be seen if such a close relationship to work toward a win can be emulated in today’s QBs.
