But recently, a Patriots veteran declared that he would sail off to the sunset. TB12’s former teammate Devin McCourty announced his retirement and received a congratulatory response from another legendary teammate, Rob Gronkowski.
New England Patriots Safety Devin McCourty recently took to social media to announce his retirement after 13 years. McCourty is walking off as a three-time SB champion and a three-time All-Pro. His announcement led to a horde of reactions, and Rob Gronkowski was also among them.

Rob Gronkowski came forward to congratulate Devin McCourty on Instagram. He mentioned, “Started my NFL career with [Devin McCourty], he was head of the 2010 class of the [Patriots] and man, what career you had man!! Proud of you for everything you have accomplished. 13 years with the Patriots. You alone made the 2010 draft class their best draft class of the decade! Congrats Devin on all you have achieved, and there will be plenty more success to come in the future!”

Gronk’s Instagram post received several responses for the three-time Super Bowl Champion.
Gronk’s brother Grodie Gronkowski Jr. commented, “Does this mean ANOTHER retirement party? 🥳”

Devin McCourty announced he would be hanging up his cleats. But that did not stop him from other franchise athletes pitching in. When the Safety athlete touched free agency, Los Angeles Chargers‘ Sebastian Joseph-Day tried to make a pitch on Twitter.

Since both are former Rutgers athletes, Joseph-Day tried to pitch an invite. However, Devin McCourty was quick to make a response. He mentioned, “😂😂😂😂I only look good in a pats uniform bro.” It led to him eventually announcing his retirement.

After Gronk, Edelman, and Brady, McCourty hung up the cleats, and the Patriots’ Lombardi-winning dynasty is ending.
