The Seattle Seahawks have found themselves in a bit of a pickle recently. They have traded away the fan-favorite franchise quarterback Russell Wilson. The club has also released longtime LB Bobby Wagner. Now there are rumors about the wide receiver DK Metcalf leaving soon as well. If Metcalf leaves, the safety Quandre Diggs will not stick around either. 

The future of Metcalf has become uncertain with the Seahawks. The receiver’s four-year rookie contract comes to an end this year. A tweet by Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon put more eyes on the situation brewing in Seattle. 

Are the Seahawks in rebuilding mode?

The Seattle Seahawks have already lost some big names this offseason. Trading Russell Wilson and letting Bobby Wagner was not easy for the franchise. Now if DK Metcalf leaves, the team may find themselves in big trouble. These are the stars that made Seahawks tough. Moving forward without them will be tough.

Recently, the safety Quandre Diggs signed a three-year deal with the franchise worth $40 million. But before he put pen to paper, the HC Pete Carroll assured him that the Seahawks are not in rebuild mode. 

“It’s always tough to see a guy like Russ go, to see Russ and Bobby go, and it’s just like, ‘Sheez, what mode are we in?’” Diggs adds, “Being able to talk to Pete, being able to understand that we’re not in a rebuild mode, we’re trying to get this thing back rolling and build a team differently a little bit.” The head coach is denying that the team does not need rebuilding, but if they lose DK Metcalf, they probably do need some rebuilding. But it seems like if the wide receiver leaves, Diggs might regret signing the extension. 

Matthew Judon puts DK Metcalf on the clock

There have not been any updates on the situation of DK Metcalf. His contract is expiring, and he could be on his way out of the franchise. Many teams will welcome Metcalf with open arms. Seeing how wild the market has gotten recently, the receivers are making some big bucks. 

The New England Patriots could be a possible destination for Metcalf. The linebacker Matthew Judon recently tweeted, ” [DK Metcalf] your are officially on the clock.” To this tweet, Quandre Diggs replied, “Stop it.. if he gone i’m gone.” This could spell big trouble for the Seahawks.
