DK Metcalf clinches his extension after tons of speculations throughout the offseason. Undeniably, when the Seahawks began their trade and cut period, it had the 12s scratching their heads. But the franchise keeps Metcalf’s services in the mix. However, the WR had to play clever and put a bluff to pull up the extension.

The Seattle Seahawks saw a horde of top stars parting ways from the roster. Be it Russell Wilson or Bobby Wagner. It was a rough offseason for the fans to witness. The franchise begins a new era with relatively younger athletes. DK Metcalf seems to be the only old-school Seahawk left on the roster.
Even though the extension was a sure-shot phenomenon, DK Metcalf made the Seahawks’ front office perspirate. During the Friday media scrum, The WR says he made use of the “hold-in” threat to pressure the GM John Schneider into making a deal. DK convinced him that if he didn’t get the deal, he would look to leave in the upcoming free agency period.

The hold-in tactic, which involves reporting to camp but not partaking until both sides reach an agreement, is a common negotiation tactic among players this season. And it was effective. DK Metcalf is the latest high-profile NFL receiver to sign a massive new contract.

The Seattle Seahawks and wide receiver DK Metcalf agreed to a three-year, $72 million contract renewal. The agreement also provides a $30 million signing bonus and $58 million in guaranteed money. It will last until the 2025 season when he will be 28 years old. Besides that, the Seahawks WR is now one of the NFL’s highest-paid players.

He might end up in the bargaining pool yet again in three years. Furthermore, if DK shines, his value will substantially increase in a blip.
