After the football season wrapped up, Eagles wide receiver switched gears and returned to his other passion: track and field. The two-time Olympic hurdler has been running quickly in the 110-meter hurdles, a discipline he excels at. Devon Allen is not only a talented football player for the Philadelphia Eagles but also a three-time U.S. national champion and a two-time Olympian in track and field.

Recently, 26-year-old Devon broke records in a running event ‘Hurdles’. The young man ran lightning fast and achieved the fourth fastest time in the world, to shock anyone including NFL. Devon played wide receiver for the University of Oregon football team from 2014 to 2016, before pursuing his NFL career.

On Saturday, Eagles wide receiver Devon Allen showed his speed and skill in the 110-meter hurdles at the USATF New York City Grand Prix. The two-time Olympian finished second in the race with a blazing time of 13.04 seconds, which is the 4th-fastest rank on the planet this year. Devon ran faster than he did at either the 2016 or 2021 Olympics, where he competed in the same event. Moreover, he set a personal best of 12.84 seconds in the race last year, which ranks him third on the all-time list.

Per reports, three hurdlers ran faster than Devon in 2023: Grant Holloway, USA (12.98) in Paris, Cordell Tinch, USA (12.96) in Fayetteville and Shunsuke Izumiya, Japan (13.04) in Osaka. Devon tied with Asier Martínez, Spain (13.04) in Huelva on June 3, 2023, but Allen had an edge over him because of his 12.84 season’s best from 2022. That’s why Devon was the 4th-fastest in the world this year.

Devon made a statement via the platform NBCSportsPhiladelphia, “Get to compete against these guys in high-quality competition. 13.01 and 13.04 is nothing to scoff at.” Allen is juggling both football and track and has his sights set on the U.S. Championships in early July.

Balancing both sports to challenge himself

Devon was born on a winter day in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 12, 1994. He grew up in Phoenix and attended Brophy College Preparatory, where he excelled in both football and track. In 2013, he moved to Oregon to study business administration at the University of Oregon and play for the Ducks football team. He loves both sports and wants to challenge himself, so he is pursuing both Olympic and NFL careers.
