After winning two consecutive Super Bowls, it has been almost 50 years for the Dolphins to make one more attempt. While most of the QB1s are avoiding injury in the preseason and watching from the sideline, Tua Tagovailoa made his debut in a preseason game on Saturday. After sitting out last season due to concussions, he learned jiu-jitsu classes this offseason, and it seems like it is helping him.

However, for HC Mike McDaniel, it was a sudden blow when in the same game where Tagovailoa made his profitable comeback, the team’s running back De’Von Achane, who had the responsibility to lead the team towards a touchdown, was carted off the field. It is not good news before seeing him in action in the main event.

Having an injury concern just two weeks before the NFL main event with one of the Dolphins’ young offensive players is a worry. De’Von Achane is a rookie third-round pick out of Texas A&M, just 24 years old, and was a promising player for this season. The Dolphins were counting on him for this season.

However, on Saturday, during the preseason game against the Houston Texans, in the third quarter, he was carted off the field with a shoulder injury. He had completed six rushes for 27 yards at the time of his exit; however, he went down hard on his right shoulder at the end of a 20-yard run. After that play, he remained in the game but was later taken to the locker room on a cart.

According to Adam Schefter, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that it was a shoulder injury: “Dolphins’ HC Mike McDaniel said De’Von Achane injured his shoulder vs. the Texans today.” The Dolphins can only wait for more information on the severity of Achane’s injury before determining his status for the regular season.

What is the next thing in store for the Dolphins?

De’Von Achane is 5-foot-9, 185 pounds, and a young, speedy, and elusive runner in the Dolphins’ offense. However, the Dolphins also have a crowded running back room including Myles Gaskin, Chris Brooks, Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., and Salvon Ahmed. They could be gearing up to replace their injured RB for the upcoming games and seize the opportunity.
