The Baltimore community experienced a dark day of mourning. Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker and Hall of Famer Ray Lewis went through the grief of losing his child recently. His eldest son Ray Lewis III left for his heavenly abode at the young age of 28. Lewis III followed in his father’s footsteps, playing for his alma mater in Miami in 2013 and 2014. He then went on to play his final year of college football with Virginia Union in 2017, recording 37 tackles with three tackles for loss.

The death of Ray Lewis’ oldest son has sent shockwaves across the NFL, as fans got together to mourn the unfortunate incident of losing a child. And now, reports reveal the actual reason behind the untimely death of Ray Lewis III.

According to TMZ, the Hall Of Famer’s son passed away because of an accidental overdose. Flordia Police have revealed that they received a 911 call on June 14 around 5:30 ish PM. When paramedics arrived on the scene at a house in Casselburry, they found Ray Lewis III lying naked and unresponsive. His friend had been administering CPR before their arrival. And even after paramedics used Narcan (used to treat narcotic overdoses), there was no response from the 28-year-old. He was declared dead on arrival by doctors after being rushed to the Advent Health Hospital in Altamonte Springs.
His death came as a shock to his siblings as well, who took to social media to mourn the loss of their brother.
Siblings pay tribute to their fallen brother
Ray Lewis III is survived by his five siblings and parents. His brother Rashaan took to Instagram to share a story about his sorrow of losing his family member. He wrote about how he hopes his 28-year-old brother is now “at peace” and how he promises to make him proud with his accomplishments in life. Even his sister Diaymon shared her grief on social media, as she wrote, “Brownie, I love you with all my heart. You’ll always be my first love and truly are the quintessential brother.” She even re-posted a photo shared by their father on Father’s Day in 2019.
