The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were sweating after Week 8 of this NFL season. They had just come off their third loss in a row and things were looking grim. However, things have turned around for the franchise and leader and quarterback, Tom Brady.
Tom Brady owns almost every significant record in the NFL history books. The most-winning quarterback in NFL history holds the most combined touchdown passes league record. Brady recently added another historic milestone when he passed for his 100,000th yard, an NFL record as well. However, even at 45, Tom Brady isn’t done and looks to overtake LA Rams QB Matthew Stafford for this specific accolade.
In 2012, Matthew Stafford set the NFL record with 727 attempted passes during his time with the Detroit Lions. Ten years later, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB is on a trajectory to trump Stafford’s numbers. Tom Brady already set the all-time record for pass completions with 485 accurate throws last season. However, this year it’s all about conversion for TB12.
Tom Brady needs his wide receivers to hit this NFL record this season
The five-time Super Bowl MVP was having the worst start to a season in 20 years of his NFL career. But Tampa Tom showed up when the Buccaneers needed him. Brady had a vintage TB12 performance against the LA Rams and the Seahawks. The seven-time Super Bowl champion had his 69th career game-winning drive in the dying minutes of the game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Brady continued his stellar form over on international waters on a historic night for the NFL. The Buccaneers beat Pete Carroll’s formidable Seattle Seahawks to get back on top of the NFC South Division with a 5-5 record. The season seems to be getting back on track for the Bucs. Brady leads the league’s quarterbacks in attempted (427) and completed (282) passes. This puts his projected numbers just short of Matthew Stafford’s 2012 stats.
Tampa Bay displayed a stellar running game in Munich against the Seahawks with a season-high 161 rush yards by the Bucs RBs. TB12 only added 29 passes to his numbers in the 21-16 victory, where he had 2 touchdowns. However, Brady surely has the record on his mind. And the 15x Pro Bowler will be looking for his receivers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Julio Jones when they travel on Sunday to face the 3-7 Cleveland Browns.
