Aside from the excitement, thrills, and drama the National Football League provides its fans, it rakes in billions of dollars each season. As fans look forward to the 2023-24 NFL season, the league has released its financial report for the past season. The numbers are astounding and might blow your mind. Not only does the report show positive results, but it also produced enough numbers to put a smile on the face of all 32 participating teams. One of the many ‘beneficiaries’ is the Green Bay Packers.

The NFL made an incredible $11.98 billion last season, compared to $11.91 in 2021–22. Mathematically, the league has seen 7.8 percent growth over the past 12 months. The contribution of all teams cannot be overlooked. The NFL has rewarded them handsomely, too. Ultimately, it’s the players and the teams that are the driving forces behind the NFL’s strong performances on and off the field. The NFL knows where’s all the moolah is coming from, and the governing body certainly doesn’t want to make any of the teams unhappy.

How much revenue did the Green Bay Packers generate in 2023?

On Wednesday, the Wisconsin football team announced its finances for 2023. Despite the loss of legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay took the lion’s share of the total revenue.

Mark Murphy, president and CEO of the Green Bay Packers, told the media that the organization posted $610.3 million in revenue in 2023. The team received $374.4 million in national revenue from the NFL, up from $347.3 million in 2022. While talking to the media, Murphy expressed his happiness and said: “We’re in a really great position I think to provide [the football team] all the resources they need to be successful and also to continue to invest in Lambeau Field and the community”

Green Bay Packers Revenue & Profit Breakdown

Aside from national revenue, the Packers posted local revenue of $235.9 million, up slightly from $231.7 million in 2022, an increase of less than two percent. The team reported expenses of $541.6 million but posted an operating profit of $68.7 million.

The financial report also showed a net income of $35.6 million, a significant 42% decrease from $61.6 million. The team cited a few main reasons for the drop in net income, one of which was an 8 percent increase in expenses thanks to full staffing after two seasons, according to COVID-19. The other reason was the relocation of a home game to London, which resulted in a massive drop in local revenue. The NFL, entering its 18th season, has set an ambitious goal of bringing in $25 billion by 2027. To achieve that, the Green Bay Packers, under their new quarterback Jordan Love, will have to draw from a full roster.

The team finished the 2022 season in 10th place and didn’t make the postseason. Even though the Green Bay Packers’ overall revenue looks good right now, fans will only come back to the stadium to see the Green Gang in action if they win games on a regular basis during the 2023 season.
