Despite a win against the Buffalo Bills, the New York Jets fanbase can’t celebrate the triumph. During the game, Aaron Rodgers suffered a gruesome injury. For a franchise that last won a Super Bowl in 1969, the 50+ years wait seemed worthwhile when they nabbed Aaron Rodgers. However, just one game into the season, things have gone south. For a player of his stature, however, financial troubles won’t follow after this heartbreaking fare. But for a winner like him, just monetary compensation won’t do.

Aaron Rodgers’ injury lands the Jets in dreaded waters

During the opening game against the Bills, it took just four plays to trigger the QB’s horrible ordeal. Bills’ edge rusher Leonard Floyd had a clean rush to the legendary player. To avoid being sacked, Rodgers looked for separation, but as he spun around, Floyd corralled him, and the impact made the QB hit the turf. During the impact, his left foot twisted awkwardly, leading to the complete tear of his left Achilles Tendon as determined by the medical examinations soon after.

This injury rules him out of the season and puts the Jets in tricky territories. He agreed to a three-year $112.5 million deal with the squad. The first two years come with the full guarantee of $75 million. They will be without his services for this season at least and if this turns out to be a career-injury ending, the bill for two years in a row will hurt their purse.

The team entered with the hopes of a title to finally have a taste of a Superbowl but things look in disarray. After attending the complete offseason regiments, the former Green Bay Packers superstar looked prime to make a huge difference. While the youngsters help pick up the slack against the Bills to effect a 22-16 win, the prospects are glum. Losing a four-time AP Most Valuable Player is going to hurt their depth.
