So who is Baker Mayfield up against? It’s no other than Kyle Trask. He played beside Tom Brady and now looking to earn his rightful place in the center. Kyle Trask has never played as a QB in an NFL game, but he still is given the chance to prove his worth. But that doesn’t even slightly prove that the management is playing favorites. Todd Bowles has previously been the head coach of the New York Jets and at the same time, he saw Mayfield in action as he was chosen for the Jets at the same period he coached the team.
Bowles had only good things to tell about Mayfield’s performance in the team. Bowles said,” I thought he was a heck of a player. I had spent some time with him down there at Oklahoma and we hit it off pretty good. That way I thought Baker is one of the few people that had the mental fortitude to actually culture New York. You just can’t play in New York, rather certain people have to be tough-minded, and I thought Baker was one of those guys.”

Experience vs Potential
Baker is surely familiar with the situation and the certain steps he must take to stay on top. He is still the 1st pick and fans are cheering for him the most. Trask has huge potential as well or he wouldn’t be put against the best, but he still is the underdog in this situation. But he is willing to give his best and try as hard as he can to gain the post he truly wants. He recently said in an interview that he looks forward to the competition and he believes it will bring the best out in both of them.
To sum it up, Be it Baker or Trask, they have big holes to fill and bigger responsibilities to take for the upcoming season. Trask didn’t play much in the past few two years, but he learned from the best, Tom Brady. The competition will be challenging and fruitful for the fate of the team.
