While the NFL offseason saw a number of players change allegiances, the Lamar Jackson fiasco still holds strong. Just a couple of weeks back, the Baltimore Ravens baffled the entire NFL community by placing Jackson under their non-exclusive franchise tag. Despite the tag allowing Lamar to negotiate a deal with other teams, the 2019 unanimous MVP found himself devoid of offers.
Pulling off another masterstroke the Ravens’ have added Odell Beckham Jr. to their ranks. While OBJ was speculated to join Aaron Rodgers in New York, the Baltimore franchise did not miss their opportunity during the NFL Combines in Phoenix and revamped their rosters. With Beckham joining the Ravens, Jackson will have an elite option out on the field provided he does return to Baltimore. With Lamar’s future still up in the air, OBJ certainly hopes to team up with the talented QB and have another shot to win it all.

During his introductory press conference, Beckham made a public plea to Lamar Jackson to return to the fold and voiced his excitement at the opportunity.
“Lamar, if you’re watching, I would love to get to work with you, I’m excited about that opportunity,” said OBJ with a smile.
Additionally, the two have been in contact as after signing his deal Sunday night, OBJ apparently had dinner with Jackson as the two discussed future possibilities.
“The goal was to come here and have that possibility to play with him,” elaborated OBJ on his decision to come to Baltimore.
While speaking on the Lamar Jackson situation, Beckham maintained a firm stance that speculating was beyond his payroll, and he just like everyone else is hoping for Jackson’s continued commitment to the Ravens.
The Dispute
The addition of Odell Beckham Jr. makes the Baltimore team an ideal spot for someone as elite as Lamar Jackson. However, the Baltimore roster was never Jackson’s cause for rebellion, it was his own valuation.

Being as confident as he is, Jackson believes he deserves a contract in line with Deshaun Watson’s five-year, $230 million, fully-guaranteed contract. It’s not like the Ravens were not willing to pay Lamar, they just had a smaller number in mind- hence, began the tussle.
Even though Lamar might want a move away from Baltimore, the Ravens GM is still hopeful of collaborating with him.
Speaking for the first time since placing the tag on the former MVP, Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said, “Lamar’s in our plans. We love Lamar. Our feelings about Lamar has not changed one bit since the end of the season. We’re hopeful still that we’ll get a long-term deal done. He’s the right player for this team to lead us to where we want to be.”
