With the NFL 2023 Draft slowly approaching in just 10 days, things are picking up pace in the league. The Philadelphia Eagles have signed their QB Jalen Hurts to a 5-year, $255 million deal, making him the highest-paid QB in history. But the situation between Baltimore Ravens and their QB Lamar Jackson is still uncertain. The team placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson on March 7. This tag allows Jackson to negotiate with other franchises, but the Ravens can either match or decline those offers to retain the QB.

But in the latest developments, NFL insider Ian Rapoport debunks the beliefs that the Ravens offered only $133 million in fully guaranteed. So how much did the Ravens actually offer Lamar Jackson?

During a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee show, Ian Rapoport stated that the Ravens offered their QB a contract that includes $200 million guaranteed. Jackson has been negotiating his contract without a certified agent in the NFL. This has been making things difficult for the 26-year-old QB.

Rapoport went on to state that “$200M was the total guaranteed and the $133M was guaranteed on a shorter deal” The offered contract to Jackson is one to bat an eye at. Even with the current guaranteed money offered, it will still place the QB as one of the highest-paid players in the league.

 

But with Jackson eyeing a contract like the  5-year $250 million fully guaranteed types received by Deshaun Watson, will the new offer suffice his needs?

In the show, Ian Rapoport further went on to compare the contract of Jalen Hurts and the offer to Jackson made by Raven Vault host Sarah Ellison. According to Ellison, Jackson will receive $133 million fully guaranteed at signing, and the total guarantees include $200 million. With Hurts deal in place, it could open the door for the Ravens and Jackson to reach an agreement. But the question that remains is, how high are the Ravens willing to go for their 2019 MVP QB?
