The couple welcomed their second child back in November 2022, only to celebrate Mahomes lifting the Super Bowl trophy On February 12, 2023. The power couple can be often seen doting on each other, and recently Brittany Mahomes shared the key to a successful relationship.

A love story for the ages

Back in 2012, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews met for the first time at Whitehouse High School in Texas. It wasn’t long before the teenage sweethearts began their journey together and committed to a relationship. Looking back to their days as young love birds, Patrick Mahomes described himself as “just a normal teenage kid showing up at the family dinner type stuff and being nervous and everything.”

Their tale of romance is indeed out of a movie, as the two even attended prom together. While they do share a romantic bond, the base is one of friendship and recently Brittany Mahomes alluded to the same on her Instagram story.

The post alluded to the importance of friendship in a relationship. It spoke of the secrets to a happy marriage, and encouraged many to ‘marry their best friend‘. The story even warned that ‘despair will come,‘ but the right person will help one fight against all odds and emerge on top.

The challenges of love

Despite standing strong together, not everything was smooth sailing for Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. There was a time when the power couple had to go on and follow their respective journeys. Right after finishing high school, Brittany went off to pursue her soccer career at the University of Texas in Tyler, while Mahomes went off to Texas Tech University.

Speaking on that time of her life, Brittany shared, “He ended up going to Texas Tech, and that’s when it really hit me, ‘Oh s—t, he might go play professional football,”

However, the couple managed to keep their spark alive through all the ups and downs and eventually got married on the 12th of March, 2022, as their adorable daughter took on the role of the flower girl.
