The Las Vegas Raiders called it a season after losing to the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card Round and it seems that Derek Carr has his QB1 role in danger. It wasn’t a very fruitful game by the quarterback. Throughout the game, he threw many incompletions, and the ones in the last drive cost them the game.
Apparently, the Raiders lacked execution, and it was very visible from Carr. The first half did not go as planned for them. And though they started to pick up the pace in the second, their efforts fell short by just a few yards in the end. It was surely not an ideal game for the Raiders and the expectations from the quarterback did seem to fade away by the end.

The Raiders have been led by interim coach Rich Bisaccia through the season after head coach Jon Gruden resigned from the team. And now as their season is over, the franchise has commenced the search for a new head coach for the team. The team will go full throttle in its search to appoint a new coach.
Future of Derek Carr with the Raiders
As per NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, “it appears the future of quarterback Derek Carr will be tied in with it.” Bisaccia will be taking up the interview too, yet a win in the playoffs could have made him the favorite contender for the job. However, since that is not the case, there are very few chances of him getting the job.
Man, not the outcome the Raiders wanted but Derek Carr doesn’t get enough credit as a player or a leader. After all the Raiders have dealt with this year, he lead them through the storm and into the playoffs. We have to start giving him the respect he has earned.

As for the 30-year-old quarterback, he has publicly stated his intentions to stay with the team. “I’d probably quit football if I had to play for somebody else,” Derek stated the previous offseason. He still has one year remaining in his five-year $125-million contract.
Let alone his playoff failure, the Raiders have ended the season with a four-game winning streak. However, it is to be seen how the franchise approaches the quarterback. The Raiders owner Mark Davis will also evaluate the accomplishments of general manager Mike Mayock. And the decision on his stay will also be a factor in Derek Carr’s future with the franchise.
