Nobody knows when that time will come. The Bucs think they should be prepared for the worst after this season. Brady has just ended a 13-year marriage with his former wife Gisele Bündchen and his team was under .500 until two weeks ago. Many think the announcement to hang it up is not far away.
Tampa Bay could get a franchise QB in Tom Brady’s place
Tom Brady is still the driving force behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers return to form this season. Brady had the game-winning offensive drive executed with under 1:30 to go on the clock against the Rams. In Germany, against the Seattle Seahawks, Brady displayed composure as the Bucs held Seattle to a 21-16 loss. However, after retirement talks have always been making the rounds for Brady, the Buccaneers might have a bargain offer for one of the NFL’s top 10 quarterbacks, Derek Carr.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr signed an off-season extension with the franchise for $121.5 million and $24.9 guaranteed salary. However, his 2023 and 2024 salaries are not guaranteed until after the Super Bowl this season. So if the Raiders plan on saving the $32.9 million in 2023, they have to let Carr go before the Super Bowl.
This creates the perfect bargain opportunity for Tampa Bay to pick up the 3x Pro Bowler quarterback to replace TB12. 31-year-old Carr has almost 34000 career passing yards and 2128 yards into Week 11 of this NFL season. Derek Carr also has 206 touchdowns with the Raiders in his 9-year playing career.

Amid poor shows from the Raiders, Carr looks like the one to get the axe
The Raiders are last in their AFC West division even after the addition of wide receiver Davante Adams. They have a 2-7 record currently and their playoff dreams are pretty much dead. And this will lead to some changes in the franchise for sure. Either the head coach or the quarterback will have to bear the brunt. Tampa Bay Buccaneers can swoop in at the right time to get Derek Carr for Tom Brady’s replacement.
However, Brady currently shows no signs of slowing down. The 5x Super Bowl MVP, and Super Bowl LV winner with the Buccaneers, has over 2800 passing yards this season and recently crossed a historic 100,000 passing marks in his NFL career against the LA Rams. Brady has been intercepted only twice this season and has 12 touchdown passes.
