The Aaron Rodgers injury blow

Aaron Rodgers started the Eagles game already in a great deal of pain due to the thumb injury. His game ended in the third quarter when he ran back to the locker room after a painful drive due to an apparent rib injury.

The Packers scored a field goal as Rodgers left the field. Backup QB Jordan Love came out for the next Packers drive but could not overturn the 23-34 deficit he inherited despite a late rally. The Packers succumbed to their eighth defeat of the season, almost ending any hopes for a place in the playoffs.

Rodgers is already dealing with an avulsion fracture in his right thumb. Another injury could now mean that he might be missing the week 13 game against the Chicago Bears. Not good news at all for the team already down and almost out.

When the Packers won the Week 10 clash against the Dallas Cowboys, fans hoped that it would signal a revival of their season. But two straight losses after that game means their season might end without a place in the postseason. The team has won just four games till now and that is not a good place to be especially as the Minnesota Vikings are dominating with a 9-2 overall record.

There was a lot of speculation about whether or not Aaron Rodgers would play for the Packers after the news of his thumb injury came out. But the MVP QB took the field in hopes of keeping the season alive. The Packers started off well, ending the first quarter with a one-point lead. But it all went downhill from that point on. Rodgers threw 11 completions for 140 yards in the game till he was forced out of the game after a field goal drive late in the third quarter. He threw two touchdown passes, but the Eagles’ defense intercepted two of his 16 pass attempts. The Eagles won 40-33.
