The football world is shocked after learning the horrific news of a beloved wide receiver. On Thursday, we found out that we lost former Denver Broncos wide receiver, Demaryius Thomas. The reason for his passing is still unclear. The Broncos will pay tribute to one of the greatest players in their match against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Demaryius Thomas’ career

The 33-year-old wide receiver was a first-round draft pick in 2010. He played for ten seasons. Besides the Broncos, Thomas also played for the Houston Texans, New England Patriots, and New York Jets. He made four Pro Bowl appearances and won Super Bowl 50 in 2015 with the Broncos.

Demaryius made many records at Denver. He holds the record for most receiving yards in a single season with 1,619 yards under his belt. He also has 226 receiving yards, which is the most in a single game played. With 14 receptions, Demaryius has the record for the most touchdown receptions in a season.

The Broncos traded Thomas to the Houston Texans in 2018. In that season, he made five touchdowns and recorded 59 receptions for 677 yards. In 2019, DT signed a one-year deal with the Patriots. But they traded him to the New York Jets later that year for a sixth-round draft pick. Earlier this year, on June 28, 2021, Demaryius Thomas announced his retirement. Thomas had a well-rounded career, and the franchise, along with the fans, loved him.

The Broncos said, “DT was beloved by our entire organization, his teammates, coaches, and our fans.”

After the sad news broke that DT was found dead at his home in Georgia, the entire NFL mourned. Everybody was caught off-guard, and many did not believe it. The Broncos were sad after they lost one of their best players in history. In their next game with the Lions, all the Broncos players will wear a helmet with 88 decals. 88 was Demaryius Thomas’ number. It would be a fitting tribute to the legend.

Players like Demaryius do not come by very often. Being good on their feet and being a favorite of the fans is difficult. This is an enormous loss for the entire NFL. DT will not be forgotten, and he will receive the tribute he deserves.
