Von Miller arrived in Denver, Colorado, as the 2nd overall pick at the 2011 NFL Draft. The former Texas A&M player established himself as one of the best defensive players in the last decade. After an average season in 2019, Miller missed the 2020 NFL season due to injury struggles.
The veteran NFL linebacker dislocated his left ankle tendon in practice ahead of Denver Broncos’ season opener last year. He could only manage 8 sacks in 2019 after recording 14.5 the year before. But the Super Bowl 50 MVP is set to make a return when the season starts in September.

The Broncos wanted Miller to take a pay cut as they offered him an extension in the ongoing offseason. However, he declined. Instead, GM George Patton exercised the one-year extension on his current contract.
Von is set to earn a $7 million guarantee from his overall $18 million salary for 2021. But what does his return mean for the Broncos?

Speaking on NFL Network, league inside James Palmer revealed the contract negotiations between Broncos GM and Miller’s entourage in the last couple of weeks.
“The idea was always ‘we’d like to have Von Miller back’ and new General Manager George Paton tried to restructure, tried to look at a pay cut.
“And Von Miller really wasn’t having that. And those talks, from my understanding, really didn’t go anywhere. And then he was somewhat patient,” Palmer said earlier today.
Vic Fangio looking to play Von Miller and Bradley Chubb together
Palmer further went on to add that coach Vic Fangio is more than delighted to welcome Miller back to his starting line-up. A dream pairing of Bradley Chubb and Von Miller will undoubtedly do wonders for the AFC West old boys.
“Now it is a $22 million cap hit, which is why they wanted to try to lower that. But now von Miller’s coming back, I’m told he is healthy.
“I’m told that Vic Fangio had a big input with George Paton saying they thought he was going to have a huge year before that injury happened at the end of training camp, so they expect that once again.

“The other part of it read is when they drafted Bradley Chubb fifth overall, a couple of years ago, they’ve always wanted these two pass rushers to rush the quarterback together.
“They’ve only done it during Chubbs rookie year, and that year, Von Miller had 14 and a half sacks, Chubb had 12,” Palmer concluded.
The Broncos finished at the bottom of their division in 2020. They could only manage a 5-11 record in absence of their star linebacker and other players. They are still looking for a big-name quarterback to challenge Drew Lock for a starting berth.
