The Monday Night Football was an extreme shocker for the Broncos fans, who were left disappointed with poor time management. First-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett for the Broncos was under the radar for losing a winnable game in a crucial moment. Fans started questioning the credibility of recruiting a top-tier quarterback and giving the shot to a kicker who never succeeded at it.

The Denver Broncos had to taste defeat 17-16 against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday. The entire scenario changed drastically in the final minutes of the game. Wilson was facing the 4th and 5th with all three time-outs in the pocket.
Not only did they drain the last minutes on the clock but also the timeouts, after Hackett made an unexpected move by inviting Brandon McManus to attempt a 64-yard field goal.
Everyone was surprised to see Hackett taking unnecessary risks, instead giving Wilson an opportunity to convert it. Well, McManus failed miserably in his attempt and maintained his previous streak of failures, leaving the Broncos still at 17-16 on board.
After the game, Hackett justified the move stating the offensive unit was not moving the ball efficiently. Thus converting it was difficult anyway. “We weren’t moving the ball that efficiently at that time, we were just getting little chunks and wanted to be sure that we got to guarantee ourselves a chance to be able to win the game,” Hackett said.
“I thought [McManus] had enough leg, and he missed it to the left but we should’ve never been in that position from the very beginning. If you’re not gonna score in the red zone, if you’re gonna have too many penalties, they’re gonna lose the turnover battle,” he added to his explanation.
Nathaniel Hackett shocked the NFL world, making a disastrous decision
Before signing his new gig at Denver Broncos, Hackett worked as an offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers. It seems the coach was trying to impress with his last moment decision. However, it backfired with a frustrating loss. What irked the fans was the decision to bench a $245 million contract holder QB for an unsuccessful placekicker. One of the users presented the statistics on McManus.
Brandon McManus career history on 62+ yard FGs
62 yards – 2016 – MISS
62 yards – 2018 – MISS
63 yards – 2021 – MISS
64 yards – 2019 – MISS
64 yards – 2022 – MISS*
70 yards – 2021 – MISS*tonight
THIS is what Nathaniel Hackett opted for instead of the $242M Russ on 4th & 5???

Another user lashed at the head coach.
I’m absolutely stupefied by that decision by Hackett. I really don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything like that.
Just decided he had a better chance of his kicker making the 2nd longest field goal in NFL history than he had of his quarterback picking up five yards!

Indeed, the cl0ock management was poor.
The clock management was terrible for the Broncos. Wow.

Griffin asked about the purpose of bringing Russell Wilson.
When you bring in Russell Wilson, you go for it on that 4th down. That was his moment, at his old home to be special or fail and they put it in the hands of the kicker. The BALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN RUSS’s hands.

This user took a shot at the coach.
It takes some doing to get out-coached by Seattle these days … Hackett was up to the task

Hackett’s decision certainly disappointed the fans.
Nathaniel Hackett had the worst NFL debut since Urban Meyer
What a colossal embarrassment
Uninspiring to say the least

While this user was pointing at his salary.
Nate Hackett is making $4 million and is surrounded by support personnel in the hopes that he can conclude that trying to make the second-longest FG in NFL history instead of 4th and 5 with a savior QB MIGHT be a bad strategy. We won't even get into the timeout thing.

The Texans, Niners, and Raiders are next on the line for the Broncos in the upcoming weeks. Hopefully, they don’t repeat the same mistakes. Otherwise, the motive behind acquiring expensive players into the roster will go in vain.
