After Cardinals GM Steve Keim took an indefinite leave of absence for health reasons, the Bird-gang was not expecting this turn of events for their QB. Kyler Murray sustained the season-ending injury in the 27-13 loss to the New England Patriots last Monday. And even though the first reactions were pretty negative, there’s a new ray of hope for Murray’s early return.
According to sources inside the Cardinals, Kyler’s injury wasn’t as bad as it looked at first sight. The 25-year-old from the University of Oklahoma tore his ACL in an extremely clean fashion and didn’t damage any nearby ligaments or tendons in his knee. This is good news for Arizona. As this brings his expected return period down to sometime in the next 8-9 months. That may be a little too late for this season. However, Murray can be back as early as the next pre-season practice.

With Kyler Murray out for eight months, things have gotten a little complicated for the Arizona Cardinals and HC Kliff Kingsbury. Kingsbury may have led the Cardinals to the playoffs in 2021, but this season’s dismal performance has put the spotlight on Patrick Mahomes‘ former college coach. Kliff finds himself under pressure after their third consecutive loss and their fifth loss in their last 6 games. And with Kyler Murray out, Colt McCoy will have to save his HC from losing his job next year.
The Cardinals have placed Kyler Murray on the physically unable-to-perform list. Murray will be in pre-hab for a couple of weeks. According to the timeline, Kyler has planned his surgery for sometime around the Christmas-New Year duration. Colt McCoy played in the New England Patriots game and passed for 246 yards and one interception. The 12-year veteran who played for the Commanders, the Browns, and NY Giants also played this season in the games against the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams in Murray’s absence.
