DeAndre Hopkins has been saying a lot without really saying anything off-late. It’s uncertain if Arizona Cardinals want to trade him this off-season. Hopkins has already crossed out a couple of teams entirely as potential landing spots. However, the motivation behind a move from Arizona is anything but financial for DeAndre. Purely driven by the desire for a championship, the Redbirds’ wideout made one thing clear. Something fans normally wouldn’t expect to hear from a professional NFL athlete.

The former Houston Texans WR1 is not in it for the money, as he declared his intentions with a blunt tweet and signed it with his nickname. Just to avoid any confusion.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, the 30-year-old 5x Pro Bowler cleared one aspect of the ambiguity surrounding his trade rumors. “Hopkins doesn’t want a raise. Nuk,” Hopkins tweeted. DeAndre is set to make $19.4 million in 2023 and $14.5 million in 2024, according to Over the Cap. And the receiver is not looking for more; be it from the Cardinals or a new team in the league.

Arizona signed Hopkins from Houston in 2020 on a two-year $54.5 million extension. During that time, the WR set career-high single-season reception numbers in his first year (115) over 1407 yards and 6 touchdowns. The numbers fell the following two years owing to hamstring problems, but he still recorded over 500 and 700 receiving yards in 2021 and 2022.

Going into his 11th year in the NFL, DeAndre has 11,298 career receiving yards, 853 receptions, and 71 touchdowns. And when it comes to where the Clemson wideout can see himself playing next season, DeAndre made it very clear in an interview yesterday.

The Patriots and the Jets won’t cut it for Hopkins

According to the video posted by CBS Sports, it looks like DeAndre Hopkins has his eyes on the Vince Lombardi trophy. And despite Bill Belichick’s dynastical resume comprising six Super Bowl rings, DeAndre passed on New England Patriots without Tom Brady in the picture. The New York Jets also got the axe. However, it’s difficult to say if Hopkins’ attitude would change if Aaron Rodgers becomes a member of the Gang Green.

For now, the only two teams that seemed to put a smile on DeAndre’s face were Josh Allen‘s Buffalo Bills and the reigning Super Bowl champions, Kansas City Chiefs. Do you think the Cardinals will stick with Hopkins? Or is a Pat Mahomes-DeAndre Hopkins connection on the table?
