In a close-fought loss to the hands of the Vikings, DeAndre Hopkins was on the receiving end of a major head-to-head clash. Surprisingly, for a clash of that magnitude, no concerns or flags were raised during the game.

The wide receiver was brought to the Arizona Cardinals to enhance their offense. His numbers since joining are definitely a reflection of that. While he does bring that x-factor to their offensive lineup, his safety is of concern. A clattering tackle on him either went unnoticed or was blatantly ignored by game officials.

A DeAndre Hopkins show

Hopkins ended the game with 1 touchdown,12 receptions, and 159 yards to his name. The 30-year-old put up a stunning one-handed catch in the end zone during the second quarter. If not for the number 10’s athleticism, the Cardinals’ QB, Kyler Murray, could have been heavily criticized for the pass. He threw the football toward Hopkins while he was covered by Vikings safety Harrison Smith.

Later on in the game, Smith got the better of Hopkins as he denied him from catching Murray’s pass. Hopkins went headfirst into the zone, trying to collect the ball which could have been thrown better. His helmet was met with a diving Harrison Smith’s helmet and it was enough to keep him from catching the ball. As he was unable to catch the ball, the Cardinals’ attempt for a two-point conversion came of no use.
