As Tom Brady calls it quits “for good” this time. But the memories of his days as quarterback for the New England Patriots with head coach Bill Belichick come flooding back. However, things weren’t always smooth sailing between the two. “The greatest player, the greatest career, a great, great person,” Belichick said. “It was such an opportunity and an honor for me to coach Tom. I guess it’s gotta end at some point. But it’s the greatest one ever. So, congratulations, Tom.” It was surprising to hear such a candid moment from Belichick. He’s known for saying as little interest in public as possible, so this is a rare affair.

But Brady has his share of thoughts to share. In a recent interview with MLF, Tom shared how “what Bill has not done to bring out the best in him… It was Bill, and I’s first year together. And I always say for young players, who’s gonna be there to take them under their wing? I had someone(Bill) who really saw something in me.” Seeing him emotional about his journey had fans in a flurry. After hearing so much about each other from this best NFL coach-player duo, the debate over who did more was on the horizon.

Belichick’s Record After Brady Has NFL Fans in a Dilemma

The departure of TB12 as a quarterback from New England has left the Patriots uncertain. While there are some positive developments with solid draft classes and decent on-the-field performance, it’s not the same as the glory days. It begs the question: Was it Bill Belichick’s masterful coaching or Tom Brady’s exceptional gameplay that led to the Patriots’ success?

In a recent stadium tweet, they discussed “Bill Belichick without Tom Brady 🫣,” and the fan reactions have us reeling. A fan recently commented that Bill is the “Most overrated coach of all time. Dude is Mid at best without Brady.” While another fan supported him in the most dramatic sense saying, “Breaking news: coach benefitted from having the greatest player of all time for 20 years.” Some commented how “Guy lucked into the greatest QB of all time. He would’ve never known what he had if Bledsoe hadn’t cleaned his clock.” One went as far as to discuss Bill’s stint with the New York Jets saying, “You forgot about his tenure with the Jets. 0-0.”

Though the reactions were not against the Patriots coach, someone said, “Without Belichick teaching Brady the game plan until he was good enough to flourish on his own, he would’ve still been buried in someone’s roster. Belichick gave Brady everyone and everything Brady needed to be successful and continue his reign for 2 decades. So stop with the bull.” We believe this discussion is timeless, but how one looks at it decides it all. While Belichick and the Patriots are struggling, the Patriots owner, Rob Kraft, wants to win the 7th ring now. What’s your take on it?
