With the trade deadline gone, the Packers GM Brian Gutekunst failed to make a single move to strengthen their squad. Moreover, Green Bay is suffering from a lot of injury concerns. Despite not making any move before the trade deadline, Packers star QB Aaron Rodgers feels optimistic about their chances of qualifying for the playoffs.

In a recent interview, Rodgers talked about their famous 2016 turnaround and how his team can still make it to the playoffs after a 3-5 record early in the season.

Aaron Rodgers opens up about his 2016 turnaround

Undoubtedly, Rodgers and the Packers did not have a great start in the first half of the season. While talking to a reporter, the QB said, We need our guys to play just a tick higher. I think all of us. That’s what we did in 2016. It wasn’t like we really added anybody to the mix. We did get to cookie back from some injuries. So we got to, hopefully, get 9 and 13 back this week, got to be a couple more weeks.

Notably, in 2016, the Packers were 4-6 at the beginning of the season. Then, Rodgers said his famous ‘Run the Table’ comment, and the team started to play incredibly well and reached the playoffs. Speaking about that, the 38-year-old quarterback said, Sometimes, you just say things to try and get a reaction, get an energy adjustment even if you are maybe not 100% certain that’s going to happen and there’s timely moment for those things. I believed it was possible. Did I think it was going to happen? Maybe not 100%, but I knew it was possible.

Aaron Rodgers also believes the same thing can happen with his current team, as they just need something to go their way. “Just takes one game, could be one quarter, one play that can alter the trajectory of a team, both positively and negatively,” he further said.

The Packers could make a comeback if they get healthier

In the same interview, A-Rod emphasized the fact that they did not get their full squad healthy at the start of the season. This could be one of the main reasons the Packers and the veteran QB made a terrible start this season. Rodgers is expecting to get all the guys healthy before playing against the Lions next Sunday.

On the other hand, speaking about not going for any trade, the 38-year-old believes their GM, Gutekunst, is showing faith in their current squad, as he expects them to get better with players coming back from injuries. Currently, the Packers have a 3-5 win-loss record; despite that, they are second in the NFC North table. Certainly, they still have a slim chance of qualifying for the playoffs, they get some back-to-back wins.
