While buying an ownership stake in an AFL team seems out of the blue, Brown might have had a sweet, ulterior motive in buying into the team. Back in the 90s, there was another arena football team from Albany that played in the AF2 league. They were called the Albany Firebirds. Interestingly, Brown’s father, Eddie Brown was a star wide receiver for them. He was even inducted into the AFL hall of fame in 2011. With such familial ties in Albany, it would make sense for Brown to invest himself and his money here. Interestingly, his father will be the vice president of football operations for the Empire.
While the purchase came out of nowhere, it seems to have a wholesome reason behind it. It only remains to be seen if Brown’s actions as a football team owner will have the same success as his NFL career. What are your thoughts
