Ask anyone who the biggest sports star in New York City is, and the answer is undoubtedly going to be Aaron Rodgers. Rogers isn’t just the biggest star in town because of his outstanding play on the field. Rather, his off-field persona, driven by a history of questionable antics, drives the superstar onto the front page every other week. But Rodgers ‘kingly’ arrival to New York may have drowned out the ‘prince’ of the city.
While Rodgers has understandably taken over the football craze in New York after moving to the Jets, his counterpart across town has perhaps been drowned out in the noise. But ‘The Big Apple’ is used to seeing the stars light up the soaring skylines of the city. But how has the Giants’ top dog, Daniel ‘Dimes’ Jones, faired after Aaron Rodgers’ arrival?

Before Aaron Rodgers became the talk of the town, Daniel Jones was the golden boy of New York football. His offseason contract extension, which secured him a staggering $40 million annual salary and a $195 million overall deal, hinted at a promising rise to stardom. However, the arrival of Rodgers and the ensuing hype swiftly snatched away Jones’ newfound status and catapulted the Jets QB into the limelight.
But despite losing the spotlight, Jones is more than happy with where he stands in the pantheon of New York City Football (with a $190 million dollars, anybody would be). As per NYPost, in his own words, “I’m not worried about that, just focused on what we’re doing here,” Jones said with a smile. The Giants’ management has provided Jones with the much-needed tools to excel, including speedy receivers, a promising rookie center, and an elite tight end in Darren Waller. The stage is set for Danny Dimes to dish out some dimes.

How are the Giants fairing after the arrival of Aaron Rodgers?
The Giants organization, as a whole, seems to be in a good place. The team is content with their QB, evident by the mammoth contract that they’ve issued to him. But more importantly, the team will enter the season looking to build off their Divisional Round playoff run from last season. While the Giants did fall short, they will take solace in losing to the eventual Super Bowl Runners Up in the Eagles.
The onus now lies on Daniel Jones and his companions to justify the multi-million dollar roster put up by GM Joe Schoen. As for team spirit, even with the arrival of a superstar like Aaron Rodgers in the other half of town, the Giants have seemed fairly unfazed. The organization and its players have had nothing but praise for Jones and his mentality going into next season, being the ‘Other Quarterback’ in town next to Aaron Rodgers. To keep it plain and simple, the New York Giants are locked in for 2023.
