Claypool had 153 catches and 12 touchdowns over the last two seasons. The 2020 second-round pick from Notre Dame goes to Chicago with Justin Fields as his new quarterback.
Claypool put out an emotional tweet addressing the trade. He tweeted, “I will always have an unbelievable amount of love for Steelers Nation and the organization that drafted me out of Notre Dame.” The receiver also added that he was beyond grateful to the people in Pittsburgh for embracing and giving him lifelong memories. He ended his statement by saying, “Now… Back to business in the Midwest.”
Fans react to Claypool’s trade
The trade received a mixed bag of reactions. Steelers fans were sad to see their receiver go. Many believe that the receiver is better suited to Pittsburg’s lineup.
Bears fans, on the other hand, were ecstatic. There were the expected few who did not like the trade.

This fan is heartbroken over the trade
I don't like the Chase Claypool to Chicago trade. Not one bit. That boy is a Pittsburgh Steeler. Breaks my heart. Hope he balls out with Justin Fields and they got a good thing going for those Bears fans. #DaBears #HereWeGo

ESPN’s NFL insider Field Yates says
In Chase Claypool, the Bears acquire a 24-year old WR who is under contract through 2023 and had 10 TDs as a rookie. He’s a big-body vertical threat that could soon become Chicago’s WR1.
An upside player with plenty of talent that fills a major need.

Where do the Bears stand?
The Steelers traded their wide receiver for a 2023 second-round draft pick. Bears fans have been at it with demands to make changes that will aid their quarterback Justin Fields.
With Claypool in their offensive lineup, he can help stretch the field alongside Darnell Mooney. The Bears’ general manager, Ryan Poles’ decision to bring in new talent signifies their need to build a solid defense around Fields. The Bears are currently 3-5 in the league, seeded behind the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers in the NFC North. Next up, the team will take on the Miami Dolphins who are currently at 5-3. The Bears Nation will look forward to seeing Claypool in action this season.
