The coach is no other than Jimmy Johnson. His tenure at the Cowboys from 1989 to 1993 saw them at the top of the NFL as they came back to winning ways. Despite his legendary status and role in the Cowboys’ success, he has found no place with other Ring of Honor inductees.

Is this the Dallas Cowboys’ biggest slip in the Ring of Honor list?

Johnson’s absence from the list is glaring as his era was one of the most successful for the Cowboys. RJ Ochoa’s tweet serves as a reminder that the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor list has a gap without their legendary coach.

Ochoa pointed out that players who joined the Cowboys after Jimmy found their way to the coveted list. The man most deserving of a place in it remains left out of it.

Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys had said in 2021 that it was “inevitable” that Johnson would be in the Ring of Honor. However, it never happened for unknown reasons. Jimmy had quipped, “While I’m alive?” in response to Jones’s announcement.

Why is Johnson’s omission so glaring?

Owner Jerry Jones had brought in Jimmy Johnson from the University of Miami to become the new head coach in 1989. Before Johnson’s arrival, the Cowboys had suffered a few years of poor performances in the league.
