Jerry Jones-owned Dallas Cowboys have arguably been the biggest flops of this year’s NFL season. They started their NFL campaign as one of the outside contenders to make the Super Bowl. However, halfway through the season, the situation is quite different for Michael Gallup and his Dallas Cowboys teammates.
The Cowboys are without starting quarterback Dak Prescott for the remainder of the season after he suffered an ankle fracture in Week Five. But backup QB Andy Dalton was ruled out of contention this week after he suffered a concussion in last week’s loss to the Washington Football Team.
So who will start for the Cowboys in Week Eight? It will be 231st 2020 NFL draft pick Ben DiNucci.

DiNucci was drafted by the Cowboys in the seventh round of this year’s draft. He played college football for James Madison University. Cowboys wideout Michael Gallup has no qualms about the rookie quarterback. When asked about DeNucci’s status on Friday, Gallup replied by saying “Ben’s been slinging that.”
Despite the expected assaults from mainstream analysts, rookie Ben DiNucci was filled with optimism ahead of his first NFL start.
He said, “I think in the span of 10 days I went from being in a sweatshirt and sweatpants to here we are, my number could be called. This is everyone’s childhood dream, right? The chance to be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. What more could you want? For me, this is an opportunity of a lifetime.”

“I’m taking it in stride. Hey, this is 2020. What else do you expect? Here we are. Week 8 of my rookie year, I’ve got a chance to go out there on ‘Sunday Night Football’ and do what I love to do. I couldn’t be happier or more excited,” DiNucci told Reuters on Thursday.
