Jerry Jones is one of the oldest and most respected owners in the NFL. Recently, a former Cowboys player and franchise legend showed his love towards Jerry.
Dez Bryant, the former Cowboys WR, recently appeared on the I AM ATHLETE podcast. During the podcast, he was asked about Jerry Jones. For context, Jerry had cut Dez Bryant from the team. As a result, people thought that Dez would hate Jerry for the rest of his life.

Bryant said, “I love him, I love Jerry to death and most people would be surprised, the man who cut me, he gave me my job, he gave me my dream.”
He added, “One thing I learned from Jerry, He had to tell me he’s just I paid attention, it’s how he branded himself, it’s how he made everybody love him, you know I’m seeing CEOs of different companies, and at the start following this man around, I got to know that is I want to know what that is.”
Furthermore, Dez Bryant explained how Jerry Jones inspired him to start his own company. Bryant said, “So that’s how I build my company. That’s why I give him the respect because I couldn’t do that without seeing what you’ve done.”
Dez Bryant claims ‘there is no NFL’ without Jerry Jones
Dez Bryant continued to heap praises about Jerry Jones. He went on to say that Jerry is the reason behind the popularity of the NFL in the nation. Bryant said, “You brought fan engagement into the NFL, you did that, it ain’t no NFL without Jerry Jones.”

He claimed that he understood why Jerry Jones had cut him from the team. Bryant knew it was a business decision, and his performance on the field led to that point. Dez Bryant was a phenomenal player throughout the years for the Cowboys, however, his run with Dallas ended after a meager performance in 2017. According to a report, Bryant ‘rubbed’ the Cowboys management in a wrong way, which paved the way for his exit.

All these comments certainly show the kind of bond Jerry Jones shares with his players. Even after cutting them from the team, he is still good with them on a personal level, and that is a great thing in pro sports.
