What a show the Cowboys put up! Dominating the field from the beginning to the end, the Cowboys rained on the Giants’ parade, both literally and metaphorically. Winning and that too by a 40-0 margin has set their spirits flying sky-high. But will they be able to carry this momentum forward in their upcoming games? There are a few hurdles down the path as some of their key players are recovering from injuries.
According to the official Dallas Cowboys’ website, WR Brandin Cooks, OTs Tyler Smith and Tyron Smith, and Safety Donovan Wilson are recovering from various injuries.

Brandin Cooks, who debuted with the Cowboys on Sunday, seemed to survive the match without a scratch. So when his name showed up on the injury report, it was somewhat of a shocker. Well, not entirely. Head coach Mike McCarthy had hinted at the injury during his midweek press conference but had abstained from making a clear declaration. The official report says that the Wide Receiver is suffering from a knee injury and DNP in Wednesday’s practice.
The Cowboys’ starting left guard, Tyler Smith, who sat out DC’s opener against the Giants, is still recovering from a hamstring injury. However, OT Tyron Smith, who had been suffering from an ankle injury, took part in the practice. The OT has not played a full season since 2015, his career being dotted with ankle, neck, and back injuries.

Safety Donovan Wilson showed up on the report with a calf injury and had to skip the practice session. Wilson will be severely missed on the field as he has 108 tackles on his record and is the only Safety in NFL history to have 5 sacks. Dallas re-signed Wilson, to a three-year, $24 million deal this offseason. While the injury has not been deemed serious, it remains to be seen if he will play the next game against the Jets.
With A-Rod out, will this balance the odds for the Cowboys?

The Cowboys will host the New York Jets on the 18th of September, at their home stadium, AT&T. 4x NFL MVP, and star Jets QB, Aaron Rodgers has been ruled out of the entire season. After just four snaps with the Jets, Rodgers suffered a season-ending injury during the Jets’ season opener against the Buffalo Bills.
The Cowboys, however, do not have much reason to celebrate. In spite of their QB being down early in the game, the Jets clinched a victory against the formidable Bills. Besides, the Cowboys have their own casualties to consider.

Ultimately, which team will win Sunday’s match might just boil down to a battle of grit and willpower. With the scales in no team’s favor, will the Jets manage another triumph in spite of their lucky charm being out? Or will the weakened Cowboys manage to replicate their resounding victory similar to the one against the Giants?
