Not for the first time, the Dallas Cowboys have high expectations for the next season. After they suffered a heartbreaking loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wildcard game, it was a similar story of the Cowboys falling well short of their playoff expectations. As a result, pressure has mounted on certain players of the Cowboys.

The likes of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, who are seen as the leaders of the team, will be expected to perform at their best. The franchise demonstrated its trust in these two by offering lucrative deals. Recently, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke up about his team and its star players. He was thrilled with Prescott and Elliott, who have put work in the offseason.

Jones said, “I’m really happy with Dak (Prescott), just his work to get in top shape coming in. I like Zeke’s physical condition. Those are pluses. They are musts for us. “I like the fact that (Tony) Pollard’s got an enhanced expectation. That’ll pay off for him and us. And I really like our receiving corps. I know we’re missing Cooper, but that’s going to get some more balls for somebody else out there. And I think that we’ve got a group of receivers that can enhance Dak’s passing and our execution, so all of that’s good.”

Dak Prescott has a big season ahead of him

Prescott had a decent outing last year. However, the biggest knock on him was that he wasn’t able to step up in big games. As a result, he faced a lot of criticism. This upcoming season will be a huge one for him. He is now fully healthy and should be to take the Dallas Cowboys to the next level.

The Cowboys would want to progress further in the playoffs. So far in his career, Dak Prescott has won only one playoff game in his career. The Cowboys quarterback would love to improve this record and show the world that he is the right man to lead his team.
