If the Dallas Cowboys’ offseason moves were not abundantly harrowing, the latest information could bother the fans. The franchise’s new 53-man roster enraged the quarterbacks’ division after Jerry Jones made waivers. On the official cut-down day, President/GM Jones cuts off some QBs. It now leaves with just one in the division. Inevitably, the removal has sparked worries about what comes next.

Tuesday marked an exciting development as the regular season approaches. As of now, all teams have limited their lineups to 53 players. As per ESPN’s Todd Archer, Jerry Jones narrows the QB inventory to just one after waiving off Cooper Rush and Will Grier. Both were the fallback options of the franchise. Moreover, it now leaves Dak Prescott as the last man standing.

Dallas Cowboys make a polarizing roster move

ESPN and Cowboys reporter Todd Archer took to Twitter to write about the situation. He mentioned, “The Cowboys are keeping one QB on the 53-man roster for the time being: Dak Prescott. They have released Cooper Rush and Will Grier, according to sources. Rush does not go through waivers; Grier does. Likely both will be back in some form — PS or active – to serve as backup.”

Moreover, in a follow-up tweet, the reporter also stated not to be concerned. The roster is just being manipulated to plan for moves in the coming days. Rush is a veteran, and they could make a “wink-wink deal” with him. Grier would return if he remained unwanted.

If Prescott plunges, the Cowboys will be in trouble. Oddly, a club with Super Bowl hopes does not possess a more qualified umbrella policy. The marketplace has a couple of quarterbacks they can get as backups. But it is yet to see if the franchise would peek into it.

Did Cooper Rush have the advantage over Will Grier?

The Star Blue had the dilemma of picking a no. 2 option among Grier and Rush. Even though the franchise would only lean on Dak Prescott this year, they need a second option in case any mishap occurs. As per SportsLine, although both were cut off, the Dallas Cowboys held a backup quarterback competition this summer between Cooper Rush and Will Grier, and Rush won the position.

Cooper Rush opened all preseason games this season, with Grier filling in. Rush had a rating of 52.62 after throwing for 136 yards and one interception. Striking off both quarterbacks may appear strange, yet it could be part of the Cowboys’ roster manipulation. Will the franchise reintroduce the backup? It is open to scrutiny.
