Rich Eisen could not believe when a struggling Colts parted ways with Frank Reich. What concerned him more was his replacement, an inexperienced Jeff Saturday, who has limited experience in the coaching role. The veteran broadcaster spoke his opinion as he disfavored the fresh change in the HC role.

He could not find a logic. “So, this is new, and the new is firing a head coach in the middle of the season. But to bring in as his replacement, somebody who’s never done it before, currently coaching at the high school level, he does know the organization,” the noted broadcaster said about the decision. NFL top QB Aaron Rodgers also expressed his concern about the Colts’ move.
Why did Colts sack Frank Reich?
The Colts fired their HC, a former QB who played 14 seasons, abruptly. He shared four and a half seasons in charge before his unexpected departure. The star coach’s career came to curtains in the wake of a humiliating 26-3 loss against the Patriots. A defeat of a huge scale has left them reeling 3-5-1 in the new season. Many fans and analysts attribute the loss to a misfired HC. Meanwhile, the lack of a top QB, in the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, or Patrick Mahomes, has also contributed to their dismal performance.
It was also their third straight loss. Reich is the second HC who has been fired after the Panthers parted ways with Matt Rhule. Earlier, a proud Reich had led the team onto playoffs on two occasions, in 2018 and 2020. Overall, he leaves with a 40-33-1 record.

Jeff Saturday comes with limited experience
The interim HC has only a Georgia High School coaching record in his portfolio. At present, he is told to revive a struggling team, and it has left the fans and analysts divided. Team owner Jim Irsay and Saturday share a great rapport, and hence he gained the trust of handling the team in a crisis scenario. But what about the experience and people management skills? This notable concern worried fans about the recent change in order.
