Dale Hansen was one of the few reporters in the sport who was involved in every issue. A legendary sportscaster, Hansen promoted problems that were ignored, misunderstood, and overlooked by others. However, once Jerry Jones roasted him through a story about when he first joined the Dallas Cowboys as their owner.
The friendly banter between the two does not overshadow the quality of reporting Dale has done over the years. He is an award-winning weeknight sports anchor at the WFAA, in addition to being a radio commentator for the Cowboys in the past.

In a hilarious roast by Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys owner, he shared his first experience with Hansen. He recalls the incident when he came to Dallas to answer questions about acquiring the team and change in administration after almost three decades. He recalled how one person kept stepping up and interrupting the press conference, annoying the billionaire franchise owner.
Reflecting on how Jerry decided to run the Cowboys and address the media, he explained that he calmed his nerves through Hansen’s example. He remarks that Hansen had made more mistakes, fired more times, said about anything he wants to, anyway he wanted to say it, and he’s still ticking, in his words. So consequently, he jokingly told the crowd that he used this as an affirmation for himself.
What did Jerry Jones say to Dale Hansen in his roast?
As the Dallas Cowboys‘ owner recalled the story of his first experience with Hansen, he cracked up the sportscaster and the crowd. He said, “There was some guy. A jerk that bout the time somebody would ask the question; here he would come and it sounded condescending to my naive ears and somebody would ask another and then that jerk would step up there and make another statement. All night long it went on like that.”

This intrigued Jerry and prompted him to ask about the person heckling him the entire night. One of the people along with the billionaire told him that he is one of the guys who works for him itself. He was the voice of the Dallas Cowboys, and it was none other than Dale Hansen.
Although Jerry and Hansen share an amicable relationship, the latter has often criticized the Cowboys. He is outspoken about the injustices in the NFL and the kind of players the Cowboys pick. All said and done, there are no hard feelings between the two.
