The Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is among the NFL’s wealthiest and most respected owners. He bought the franchise in 1989, and now the franchise is the most valuable sports franchise in the world.

The franchise has won three Super Bowls under his ownership. They came in 1993, 1994 and 1996. Jerry was instrumental to the Cowboys dynasty of the 1990s. However, they haven’t won a Super Bowl since then.

As a result, he has faced immense criticism due to the continuous failure of the franchise year after year. The Cowboys have a very loyal fan base, and they have been ridiculed continuously, due to the incompetence of their team.

The franchise has made some blunders in the Draft and free agency over the years. They have overpaid some players, while some good players have left the team for free. This might be the reason why they haven’t won a Super Bowl in the last 26 years.

Jerry Jones and his son Stephen Jones, who is the Chief Operating Officer/Executive Vice President/Player Personnel and President of AT&T Stadium, have been recognized as the force behind major decisions taken by the franchise through the years.

Jerry Jones came up with a hilarious statement ahead of the NFL Draft 2022

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke to the reporters ahead of the NFL Draft 2022. Jones took a subtle dig at his son for one of their draft blunders during that moment.

Unsurprisingly, he took all the credit for one of their major draft success over the recent years. Jerry Jones said, “Taco was Stephen’s call. Parsons was my call.” 

To bring more light to this statement of the Cowboys’ owner, Jerry stated that Taco Charlton who is considered one of the worst draft picks of the Cowboys in recent years. He was picked on the suggestion of Stephen Jones.

Taco was picked by the Cowboys with the 28th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The DE from Michigan played just two seasons for the Cowboys. Unsurprisingly, he has struggled to find a place where he could be the focal point of their defense. As a result, Taco is now on his 4th team since leaving Dallas. He has already played for the Chiefs, Dolphins, and Steelers.

However, the Dallas Cowboys hit a jackpot in last year’s draft. The Cowboys drafted Micah Parsons, the LB from Penn State, with the 12th overall pick in the NFL Draft 2021. Parsons was the defensive Rookie of the Year last season.

Micah is regarded among the best defensive players in the league, and the Cowboys are lucky to have him considering their history in drafting talents. As a result, Jerry Jones was quick to say that he gave the nod to the Cowboys to draft Micah last season.
