The atmosphere in Dallas is very unpleasant these days. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has not been too pleased with the performance of his boys recently. The San Francisco 49ers knocked the Dallas Cowboys out of the playoffs.
Everybody knows that Jones is not shy when it comes to expressing his feelings towards his players. Good or bad, the GM and owner will let you have it. In a recent interview with 105.3 The Fan, the four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper became Jones’ latest target.

Jerry Jones on Amari Cooper’s contract
Amari Cooper has been a good addition to the roster of the Dallas Cowboys. He has produced solid results all throughout the season. Even in the wild-card loss to the 49ers, Cooper had a decent showing. He scored a touchdown with six interceptions and gained 64 yards. The problem Jerry Jones has with Cooper is that he is just not elite. Even after taking $20 million, the WR fails to deliver.
“I don’t have any comment on Cooper’s contract,” said Jones. “I thought that the way we were playing early when we did make something happen, I thought Cooper had a big part of it. And I’m not being trite. But how he fits in, he should take half the field with him when he runs a route.” The owner has seen potential in Cooper, but he is having a hard time keeping his faith in the receiver.
Jones says that Amari carrying half a field is an exaggeration, but a whole bunch of defense should have honored him.
Amari Cooper’s performance this season
The wide receiver’s performance has taken a blow this season. Cooper finished with just 68 catches for 865 yards. He managed to score eight touchdowns. Amari Cooper was acquired by Jerry Jones and the Cowboys in a mid-season trade with the Raiders in 2018. For his first two seasons in Dallas, Amari has averaged 85.5 catches for 1,151.5 yards.

After being impressed with his performance, Jones signed the WR on a five-year deal worth $100 million in 2020. But in recent games, it looks like Jerry Jones is losing faith in Cooper. He is not certain about the future of the receiver.
